Wake FC Challenge is an introductory program for players & teams new to Wake FC. Challenge serves as an on-ramp to the developmental pathway, allowing for an easy transition from recreation to competitive travel. While the program is a step up from recreation soccer, it features limited travel and less commitment than a Classic team. Wake FC Challenge is offered in both Wake FC North and Wake FC South.

Tryouts
Each May, Challenge teams are formed in tryouts based on interest and incoming players. Age groups are based on birth year.
Seasons
Challenge is a full-year commitment with a fall season (Aug. - Nov.) and a spring season (Feb. - May). Each season consists of ~8 games and one festival. Additional events may be added depending on the team. Challenge teams also participate in the Wake FC Tournament Series as determined by the program directors.
Travel & Games
All Challenge games are played either in-house against other Wake FC teams or against other clubs in the Triangle Premier League. Challenge teams are matched against appropriate levels of competition for each game. Travel usually does not exceed one hour for any away match.
Practices
Challenge teams train twice a week at regional field locations. Goalkeepers receive complimentary training during the season.
Wake FC South fields include those located in Holly Springs, Apex, Fuquay-Varina and parts of Cary. Examples include: Ting Park, Womble Park, Seymour Park and Hunter Street Park.
Wake FC North fields include those located nearer downtown Raleigh and in northern Wake County. Examples include David R. Kahn Community Center, Baileywick Park, MACSports and Kiwanis Park.
For the complete fields listing, see the the Wake FC Field Directory.
Coaches
Each Challenge coach is a volunteer. All coaches are background checked and undergo coaching education via US Soccer and/or Wake FC directors.
